Reunion Information

When: June 12th

Where: The home of Robin and Sandy Bayles

Cost: $7.00 Adults
$5.00 Children

Time: 2pm til dark. I'm sure we will take a bit of time to chat and catch up on the last 27 years with everyone then we can start the games while Eric prepares the grills. Oh did I tell you Eric Jessup has offered to be our cook for the day? Thank you Eric!

I am SO hoping we can get Robin to play his guitar too. I miss that more than anything!


Once again the menu is as follows:

Hot Dogs/Hamburgers
Pasta Salad
Baked Beans
Deviled Eggs
Cole Slaw
Chips
Lemonaide, Tea and Water

Desserts will be donations from the local attendees. So far we have a fruit pizza and brownies!

FINAL FINAL FINAL plans....

The reunion will be held at the home of Robin and Sandy Bayles, in Manassas, VA. The date is June 12th. The time will be announced soon.

I am waiting on the final price for the food, which should be in the next day or so. Stacey Helmer Wood is working on this and recently her church donated 2 boxes of hamburgers and 60 hotdogs! This will help keep the cost down.

The list of participants was growing which made the pavillion too small for our numbers. We currently have 50 coming and the pavillion held half of that.

There will be no ball game, but there will be backyard games for adults as well as children. Robin has swings for kids, a tire swing and a zip line, which I'm told is strong enough to hold adults! Loretta and I are also working on plans for a small craft table for those children who would like to use it.

You may bring your favorite beverage, but please NO alcohol.

Please bring your favorite desert to share, if you'd like. I'm making a fruit pizza, my sister doesn't know it yet, but she's bringing brownies! lol

We know this has been a wild ride as far as planning, but things are FINALLY set in stone and we are ironing out the tiny details.

So, to wrap this all up, I will be posting soon (I'm hoping by tomorrow as I have to work til 10pm tonight):

It's that time...

We have to get the plans finalized for the reunion. I am going to meet with Robin and Sandy sometime next week to talk about the plans. It's probably going to be during the day, so if you are available, please let me know. I think my next day off might be wed/thurs of next week.

I still need to get to Suitland to visit a local park to see about accomodations for cooking out and see if they have a baseball field. Stacey Helmer Wood has offered to cater the event should we have it indoors.

I want to have my special photo project complete by the end of March and have set a deadline for photo submissions. I really need help on this one. I have only had two people offer photos. Mrs. Myers mailed me hers, I scanned them, and mailed them back. I can do the same with your photos. I promise to take care of them. Even if you only mail me a tiny wallet sized pic of your graduation photo, it would be helpful! Your other option is to email them to me. I REALLY need help here. THANKS in advance!

Date Set...

The vote is in! It's June 12/13th! I will talk to the pastor about it soon and confirm with him. I am going to be looking into finding local parks in the area, in case we have a cookout. Seems most people don't care one way or another which way we do it. If we have a cookout/game, we could always go back to the church after we play/eat and sit around singing/practicing, fellowshiping or whatever we choose to do.

With the date set, we really need to make sure everyone is contacted and get a response from them. Have you talked to anyone about the reunion yet? Please let me know!

Next would be deciding on what to do....

Answer from Pastor at FBC of Suitland

Several weeks ago, thorough their website, I emailed to ask if we could use the facilites for our reunion and also that we would like to sing for the congregation on that Sunday. Off the top of my head, I cannot remember what exactly I said...I do believe I asked about the two dates in June. (I am going to check on this, but look, I'm old...my brain doesn't function like it used to! lol)

I received a response today from Pastor Stanley:

Good Evening Sister Grimes:

Thank you for being so considerate in chosing to have the youth choir have a reunion of sorts. At the moment, I do not see a problem or conflict. Give me until the end of the month to give you a firm answer. I will then call you at the number you have given, and we can work out the details. Bless you and again, thank you for the consideration.

Hello!

Hello again,

I have changed this page a bit as my notes were all over and I was having trouble organizing the ideas put out there and my thoughts! The comments have remained.

I'm going to try something different as thoughts and ideas pour in on the subject of a youth group reunion this summer. I'm going to try to break things down a bit...Wish me luck! lol What i want to do is post suggestions and have everyone vote. Keep in mind the suggestions are still coming in so I think the most important thing right now is, what date do you prefer, and are you willing to chip in for a catered dinner, if that's what we decide.

Please have all of your ideas to us by January 20th, and then VOTE! Please check out PAGE 2 to see who has been contacted and who has not. If you can help with this, please let us know by clicking on the comments section. I will move the names to the the "contacted" list as soon as I can.

WHERE:

Picnic in a local park with cookout and possible softball game then come back to FBC of S for fellowship and song, then Sunday morning service at FBC of S to sing a song or two for the congregation.

FBC of S Fellowship Hall catered dinner, skits, song, fellowship.

Fellowship Hall at another location to accomodate a larger crowd with a catered dinner, skits, songs, fellowship.

Any other ideas?

Bring your whole family and parents! We want the parents there because alot of them were very involved in our lives!
